Le
March was exiled from Magna Graecia which dominated most of the
region around ages in the 4th centuryBC. During the early Middle
Ages, the edge of the Holy Roman Empire was given rise to its present
name "Marche" by the region.
The
region immensely and historically prospered under Federico de Moutefeltro in
the 15th century and his court at Urbino became one of the European's
leading cultural centers. Today Federico's magnificent Renaissance
Palazo Ducale is home to a regional art collection.
Ascoli
Piceno is also charming/fascinating place and its central
Piazza del popoles is sorrounded by the most evocative old squares
in Italy. Many of fine medieval monuments still remains in San Leo,
Urbania and San Marino. Today Le Marche attracts the people by its
beaches and its mountains for skinng.
